A resistor added or a capacitance value changed will have frequency response effects with the other drivers too, upsetting the tonal balance, but a variable L-pad control on just the mid (or another on the tweeter, too) will adjust level as you want without affecting crossover frequencies. BTW, without indouctor values, it is impossible to know what other part values do.
