I'd like to assemble some tonearm interconnect cables. I need male (for my Grace 707 MkII tonearm) and female types 5-pin DIN phono plugs. The Cardas 5-pin DIN phonos are just fine, but I'm curious as to whether there are others available. A few choices would be nice.

Thanks, everyone, for your replies. A couple of things. I now see that there're other choices in the market for 5-pin female DIN phono plugs, but I didn't see any male offerings, which is what I need for my trusty old Grace 707 (unless I re-wire it, I suppose). All of this comes about as I've resurrected my old vinyl gear - a couple of old 'tables, tonearms, and cartridges. All decent stuff in very good condition. Plugging the original cable supplied with my Grace 707 into the 707 for the first time in about 20 years, the right channel wasn't working. The signal wire of the right RCA phono plug had come adrift of the signal pin. Okay, with little surgery I can fix this (unfortunately this means cutting into the cable which is in otherwise as-new condition).
Instead of repairing the original cable, I looked into buying and/or building a cable. I quickly discovered that finding a cable for the Grace, one requiring the 5-pin male DIN phono plug, was a bit of an oddity. No problem with the female DIN, of course. But, I did find a few folks offering cables terminated with this plug - Zu, SLC, and shop in Hong Kong. I bought a Zu.
Still, I'd like to experiment a bit and build a cable for the Grace. The Cardas 5-pin male DIN plug is available, but I think it's a bit costly. I just got a quote a of $28/each. It's a block of Delrin with pins through it. I know that its apparent simplicity isn't a final indicator of cost, and I don't consider this piece crazy pricey, especially if it is the only part available, but I was curious if there might be some other options.

Let me know what you find that works.

Hey, Russ. I have found four shops offering 5-pin male DIN terminated tonearm cables - Zu Cable, SLC (attractively priced, I think), DIY Cable, and a shop in Hong Kong. There maybe others, but this is what I've found. I bought a Zu.
In exploring DIY options, Cardas does offer a 5-pin male DIN phono plug at a cost of $28/each. It's a simple affair of pins passing through a round piece of Delrin. No sleeve or barrel. I don't consider this crazy-pricey, especially if it's the only part available, but I was curious whether there were some other options. I haven't found one yet.
I was told that the Cardas part doesn't quite fit the Grace. I don't know. Whatever Zu uses for the Grace male DIN termination on its tonearm cables fits as well as the original Grace-supplied cable, as far as I can tell/see.

let me know what you think of the fit and the sound. Mine just has a little noise on one channel. I thought I could hear it and saw it on a scope so I know it needs replacement. When I looked a few years back only the cardas was an option and reports were it didn't really fit right so I passed. You have given me new hope:)
Russ
Russ, I've got the cable from Zu 'n I've darned well bin usin' it ;) I, too, was despairing of hope, finding that the original cable didn't work, then that there was nuance attached to a proper replacement. But, I despair no more.
The first thing I checked when I received the cable was the DIN fit. With the arm still mounted on its board, and the board still mounted to the 'table, the fit seemed perfect. It would have perhaps been easier to detect any dimensional difference with the arm unmounted, but if there are differences I'd say they're insignificant.
Now, I'm not sure exactly which male DIN Zu uses (and I haven't asked them). I don't know of any other than the Cardas, but the Zu (the cable model is called the Xaus) tonearm cable has a plastic finish cover over the termination, which I don't see offered by Cardas. So, I don't know where, at least the cover, comes from, and I don't know with certainty that the male DIN is Cardas. I'm guessin' it is, and that Zu arranged the cover.
I'd still like to mess around DIY'ing a cable or two. I'm just gonna go ahead and buy a Cardas male DIN and check out how everything works. I'll report back on how it fits the Grace. I don't know how I'm going to finish the termination, though. Just a plug with some fine wires hangin' from it doesn't seem quite right. We'll see.
Net: The Zu Xaus with the male DIN phono plug seems to be quite a good fit, and all sounds good. So here's one pathway towards the fulfillment of a hoping. Maybe there are more...
Cheers.
