I have read with great interest about folks putting CD's and other things in their home freezer, it is my understanding that true cryogenic treatment consists of temperatures much lower than what can be realized with your home refrigerator / freezer.
If I understand correctly most cryo treatment is done by means of liquid nitrogen immersion, is it possible to purchase a container of this large enough to immerse compact discs, duplex receptacles, etc, in?
Please understand that I do not claim to be an expert in this, I am just trying to stimulate some open discussion on the matter.
Follow Ups:
most do not use direct immersion. The process is computer controlled to ramp temps down and back up using vapor injection into the chamber. Direct immersion from room temp is very risky. I had some success with cables and CD's using dry ice. The process was to put the items in the refer for a period. Move them to the freezer, and then to a styrofoam ice chest with a 5 pound block of dry ice. The chest was placed inside the freezer to slow evaporation. This process is then reversed.
Hi.
Why play with fire? Have it done by those industrial crygenic people for ensured result. Not that costly at all.
Per my experience, home frige freezing is a joke. Don't hold yr breath on it.

It will cost you much more to try to do it correctly at home
Yes you can purchase gallons of the stuff (liquid nitrogen). t will give you instant frostbite if it makes contact with your skin, and it displaces about a 1000 times its liquid volume possibly displacing oxygen with it. Seems to me if you have to ask, you'd better not fool around with the stuff, as it can kill you.
Further down I have posted means for DIY cryoing. I do not not encourage anyone to do it unless you plan things out well in advance and do a bit of research over and beyond what a a few minutes of typing can provide.
I certainly wouldn't want to see a Darwin Award being handed out based on your efforts.
