I am looking to build two power cords six feet in length utilizing the Oyaide 004 series connectors into an R-1 receptacle to power my tubed pre and tubed phono. I've been eyeballing the Chris VenHaus Flavor 2 design, but then I began wondering how simply buying six feet of this high grade Japanese stuff (Neotech NEP 3001 or 3003) and simply attaching the connectors to the ends would compare?
Also, is this stuff very stiff? I can almost not use my Flavor 4 due to its stifness.
Thank you very much in advance for your help.

I am going through the same decision making process. After talking to Chris I have decided on the Neotech cables with the Oyaide plugs. From what I understand, Acoustic Zen sources their cables from Neotech. I have all AZ interconnects and like the sound of the OCC very much.
I am using the Oyaide R004/C004 combo with Neotech 3003 into an Oyaide R1 and the result is very good (better midrange than the StarQuad cable used in the Flavor 4 for my application - its going into a Modwright preamp).
3003 takes a while to break in tho - muddy, pushed forward midrange which settles down nicely.
have you had the chance to try the Neotech 3001? I am thinking about using these for amy amps.
Check out the Cryomax III wire from Cryoparts. Good stuff!
I'd e-mail Chris VH and ask him..i think he sells the Neotech wiring.
I have 4 Flavor 2 cords, all with Oyaide P-079 & Furu FI 11 AG ends. I wouldn't rock without these... the change from going to CVH's copper over some other, supposedly, decent power cabling was big. huge to a degree.
Using the nicer plugs and outlet (i'm a SWO-xxx guy) should be bad-ass.
Are they?
IMO, Neotech is a nightmare with regard to stiffness.

Michael
Initially, I was a bit disappointed with the Blueberry with the stock power cord. So I built a cryoed Belden and the soundstage opened up and vocals carried more weight. Much better. My brother wanted to try Chris' Flavor 2 power cable so I built one for him and one for me. Without any break-in, improvement over the cryoed Belden 19364 was clearly evident. The music became more engaging. Now after around 300 hrs., it's even better. I've only tried the Belden, Halloween, Kimber, and Audio Quest power cords but would recommend giving this a try considering the somewhat low cost (mine was a 3' cable). i used Furutech FI-11 IEC and plug. It's pretty flexible if you use the tube from VH audio (I think it's actually an automotive fuel line).
