I was thinking of replacing the diodes in my PH3 (non SE) phono preamp with hexfreds. How do I determine what values to use and where can I buy them? Are there different varieties of Hexfreds? If so, how do I know what I should be looking for?
Follow Ups:
Digikey.ISYX DSEI8-06A-ND.600v/8 amp.More than enough for both pre amps. The band on the diode is the cathode or the left leg of the fred.I tried other brands IR- and I heard no difference. These are cheaper and sound excellent.Easy to install.I think the LS-7 has 8.Not sure about the phono stage -should be 4 or 8.1N4007's or ....6 if I can remember is what is in there.Higher voltages are not necessary.Neither is using much current.Let me know how it goes.
They make hyper freds but they can be large and I heard no difference.Keep it simple and use these.Mike
