OK I'm convinced and will try some tube swapping
Thanks

Follow Ups:
Various NOS tubes do not change the receive sensitivy much, just the sonics. Now, the small internal capacitance variances of RF tube can effect receive sensitivity a small amount on some applications.
Be careful; to fully evaluate RF or IF tubes on an even playing field, you need to re-align the RF/IF stages after every swap. The tuned circuits will respond differently to the slight changes in tube GM, capacitance, plate resistance etc. from variations in physical construction. And RF and IF stage tuning will certainly affect the distortion signature and separation.

I always realign tuners when swapping out tubes in the I.F., R.F. and multiplexer plus other parts as applied to same circuits too.
