6.3V fil; EV9-6138 sw. settings; 28 bias; no shunt; Range Type B; Press 3; Min. Value 18; New reads much higher(more than doubled min. value)...
If you google Noel Lee or TV-7 settings, don't you get some info out there in internet land ? Noel Lee did extensive research; but had to remove some online resources. I did get this above info from a download a few years back; but no 8417 info was in this bundle...
A bit of warning about testing large opts with a TV7 is in order. The fuse lights up brightly with high current filament tubes like KT-88, 6550 and 8417. Our peers have reported erroneous results with many hi-power opts on TV-7s. So, you might want to have some other tester do that duty; or at least have some extra #81 bulbs(fuses) on hand...
but you do know he is the head monster......those references swamp out everything else. But thanks, and I'll keep my eye out
You have been most helpfull

have those test points. If you have a Hickok and have those test points they would of great help.
I know the basic settings but am guessing as to the Bias ( English) setting and the meter readings. So a real Tester with the readings would be very helpful for peace of mind

I don't think those settings are transferable from one model Hickok to the next. Unless this was published for your model at some point by Hickok, you'll probably have to define your own settings based on a NOS tube and settings for other small-signal pentodes. Maybe a 6AU6 would be similar enough electrically to give you a start.

now I can't find the post.
The scribbled note is not with my current (and last) TV7, so I'm guessing I included it with the one I sold.
Think I found the post 3-4 years ago.
not find it,
I have figured out most of the settings except the bias and test point. I use a bogey NOS tube and use that as the reference but I would feel more secure If I actually knew.
Thanks though
It was @ another forum.
very much:
Helps a lot as I have a case full of these tubes.
for refurbishing.
It tests DHT's fine, but needs nudging for some small signal triodes (added ferrite magnets to the power cord plus an occasional two tight snaps to the tube if the meter still clocks out;-).
It won't test EL84/EL34's et cetera @ all, but it was this way when I purchased it on the cheap.
My other one was rebuilt by a local tech and I'll see if he's still in business.
Have a Hickok 539b or 539c, I forget which, but I think it's a 'b'.
Works great but needs some of the sockets replaced as the tubes are too loose to test easily and I would rather not screw it up worse.
