That's good to know - esp. hearing that opinion from former
bedazzled users of the KT66 Saratov.
This is for someone who wants to buy 4 new tubes for a PP triode amp...

I should specify that I use them in SE only.
This might be the difference in my assessment
as compared with the others that posted.
In SE the Saratov has highs that are to die for
BUT the rest is only very good.
The GL are excellant across the whole range.

Like I mentioned, I have the exact Saratov tubes you are looking for and I find the GL reissue to be just as good. But I totally get why you would want them, they are wonderful.
I had used them in Marshall guitar amps for a while -- Bluesbreaker and JTM45 -- and for audio in a home built PP amp wired for triode. The two types sound almost identical in the audio amp in my opinion. Great extension, detailed and lush midrange, and excellent bass.
The only difference in the Marshall is that I hear a little more chirp in the mids when using a Les Paul from the Saratovs. To explain myself, to me the chirp comes from my pick attack and is, I think, harmonic overtones. Neither has the creaminess of the grey glass GEC's, but neither do my clear glass GEC. All fantastic tubes in my opinion. I am THRILLED the Gold Lions are in production. I may try some Shuguang Treasures to compare to my grey glass, but I will be saving my Saratovs for audio use only now I have the GL's.
