It looks like the supply of Ei EL84 has dried up at most tube dealers. I recently revisited my Ei EL84 as they seem to synergize well with my new coupling caps. Unfortunately, a couple of them have developed some *interesting* issues.
One has intermittent low level tube noise over sensitive speakers or headphones, and another has pretty loud noise at turn-on (like paper crumpling) but this noise goes away after 15-20 seconds.
Are these problems going to get worse, and if so, does anyone have some new/used Ei EL84 they can part with? Lemme know pls.

I've got tons of those things. Shoot me an email if you like. I think I have 8 or 10 quads. Half are Elites and the other the regular white label.
That's the sound my EL-84's always made when they were starting to die and yes, the problem does get worse, until you end up biting your finger nails wondering when the tube's going to short taking out your OPT's.
I was pleasantly surprised with the sound of Sovtek EL-84/6BQ5 in my parallel SE amp.
Wasn't it kind that the EL84 tube designers built in that warning system . You know the crumpling of paper, mine throws a pop or two in as well.
I've never been able to go beyond a few pops. Do you know what happens after that?
JJ are my 2nd favored EL 84 after the Ei's ....... Ei's are slated to start production again but quality and supply are still up in the air so far as I know.
