so, from this post we learn:
a.) customers are idiots if they think they got ripped off and ...
b.) you would rather change the subject from your SS amps to diesel engines because
c.) as in 'see' a.)
you post embarrassing 'projections' without embarrassment
a.k.a 'unforced errors' via an incredible lack of self awareness
ah well,
Follow Ups:
Jumping to incorrect/false conclusions
is self-delusional.
I would suggest getting out into this
time of year and taking in the Fall colors.
Note that the Elk, Deer, Birds, and fish
aren't self-delusional-- that is a product
of city life which they don't suffer from.

Quell surprise! another change of subject!
modus operandi revealed and part of your digital fingerprint
speaking of which: wear your mask, wash your hands
be well,
The "customer" really liked the sound of his amps. He just happened to mention feeling ripped off because he was disappointed in the cost. He could afford it. He just made the observation, more because he was disappointed in the little amount of work and the high cost. My guess is my friend had had 40-50 amps.
I understand. Better take another look, I would
tell him. Those chassis aren't ordinary. They're the best
out there, and every part is functional and Industrial, not
kooky to please the gawker. This costs me money at the CNC/welder boys, at the Powder
coaters, and at the few places where one can buy all
brass and stainless steel hardware in the correct sizes.I like Audionote silver resistors, and pay the Canadians
thru the nose for them. They only have a few values that
I can use only in certain designs. I like Caddock, I
like Rodersteins. Only the Rodersteins are not
overly pricey. Mills and Arcol resistors are also
called upon because they SOUND RIGHT.Capacitor bypassing and R.F. choking are concepts
that are developed fully. Mundorf Silver/Oils and Dynamicaps, etc.,
deliver performance that you can't get in any other way.Shunt regulators require the same capacitor bypassing as
R.F. choking. At each point, it will require up to 8
different value Dynamicaps or Silver/Oils or something
just as good. These are all expensive parts. Why use them?
Because I like powerful, clean bass, and clean, extended highs
with a rock-solid midrange, and timing cues on-time.
This means LOW-DCR power, and plenty of it.Power for a 100 watt amplifier to run ONE WATT? Correct.
Low-DCR, high milliamp power that is delivered fast means
it's not a "critical inductance" power system. It's a great power supply at delivering high pulse currents
quickly and on time- a rarity in amplifiers. But it is also
a fairly high-ripple supply. Why use it? Because it's speed and
power has no equal. We have to clean it up-- this is the job of R.F. chokes and
their attendant multiple-value, expensive cap banks, and is the
job of shunt regulators which are resistors and cap-banks only.
No active parts!.Now, the theory guys don't approve of
this. BUT I DO.One listen, and it's all over. Extended listening and it's
THE BEST. You don't get tired of music. It doesn't impart
it's own sound to music. It plays each recording as it is--
allowing each to display It's own sonics. This is why it
never makes you tired of listening to music. There are arguments galore out there against this
approach, but those are only arguments. This is how you present music, and it costs money to
make it happen, and have equipment last-- and most important--
require no attention or adjustments. NOT EVER.It's Industrial.
Doubled-up and tripled-up solid silver is used. Why? It
sounds so much better, it's just ridiculous to compare it
to anything else--it's a must have.Mil-Spec silver-plated copper is
used in 12ga. It is relatively inexpensive. What's so good about it? It makes the best sounding
grounding systems. Why use a 12-lb output trans, or in earlier models,
Magnequest? Well, we have used most iron out there--
both of these items distorted music less.We found an R-Core output trans in Japan and tried it
on a few prototypes. These required long break-ins, but had a
midrange and high-end to "die for". I sold these amps
at cost because they're basically midrange/tweeter amps--
great mids & highs.
Bottom end is nothing compared to the large inductance
12 pounder, AND the smaller Magnequests.Better get those "Maggies" now-- Magnequests are history, and my
stash is gone.... I still have 4 amps with them because
I had stashed a few dozen. One pair is a trade-in.It takes a lot of time and money to build amps this
way. Any good engineer can look at one and see that.Hey! A lot of stuff out there is designed to fool
the guy who likes fancy window dressing. These were designed to look the best that they can--
they're considered Industrial Art by many. That's Industrial. It's not wood that can catch fire
or shrink, or warp, it's not decorated with plastic jewelry, and
it's not gussied-up in any way. It's Industrial, and
it lasts for years. And still looks the same and performs the same.

I don't blame your friend, who wouldn't feel that way?
especially having a broad knowledge base of gear based on ownership for reference
