At 20Hz, we have 40 Ohms of impedance with the speaker level Hpf. I wouldn't really call that no load.

Is it 40 ohms resistive? Or something else?

40 Ohms of added reactive impedance to what the speaker would otherwise be.
Well, I have no idea how 40 ohms of that particular reactance in series with the driver might affect the amplifier over frequency. That's one reason I would recommend against it. Low level contouring is much safer all around.
