haven't seen anyone defend their preference for the Marantz in any great detail at all. I and others, simply asked a for a few details such as how long the PD had been burned in (minutes), what music was listened to, what was the nature of the preferences, etc.
People will be welcome to report their findings here, but it would be more meaningful to buy one or the other, assuming you're in the market. Both are fine machines and both have successfully removed the digital glare that I continue to hear in machines costing almost as much as the Marantz. IMHO, once you remove that glare, there are several valid choices. If you preferences is for somewhat warm and euphonic (just a little, not excessive) then you'll probably pick the Marantz. If you like open, transparent, but with dynamic impact and still musical presentation, then you'll likely pick the PD. It's that simple.
