Hi Rod,
I just got done waiting over a minute for a page to finish loading and it didn't. I reloaded the page and it finally finished after about ten seconds. The thing gets wedged waiting for ad pictures to load. This behavior has been occurring to some extent from the time they were added, as it were...
I'm guessing it's a resizing, buffering or indexing thing as I THINK that once the picture has loaded then it's OK from then on. I suspect that it's at your end since I've never seen this behavior elsewhere.
Gotta tell you I don't even want the damn ads and having them bog down the operation really sucks. I've never used Audiogon but I do look at the classifieds at AA from time to time. There is a huge difference between seeking out items of interest and having ads in your face. No, I don't watch TV but I do enjoy AA and I would hate to see Audiogon's problems destroy the nature of this site in an attempt to capture that channel. But I'm all for having more gear for sale in the classifieds!
Regards, Rick

Same problem here... AD pictures are so slow most of the time that I just kill the window and move on... :(
Need an option/user preference to keep the Featured Ads off the main front page. Else I will block all images on this site using ad-blocker. Way too slow loading and I don't need images unless I want to buy something which isn't every day.
Why is that?
Is it being throttled? Served from a really slow server? Or is everything on such a slow internet connection that you can only reliably serve text content?
It makes the classifieds a real chore to browse. Inmate galleries are also very nearly unusable.
Still slow?
Images in messages might be. If so, we can move those off.

Photos in the ads are nice and fast now, but photos from inmate galleries are still terribly slow. Not sure if that's what you mean by 'images in messags'.
Yeah, they're all on the same server. I could move the Gallery stuff easily. It's smaller than all the usr images from message uploads.
Gallery images are way bigger too as I recall.
-Rod
The gallery images that were slow to load that I was just looking at were only 100k in size.
We pushing nearly 50% more traffic, but I wonder if there's something else going on with big files. I'll move the galleries over this weekend.
What about messages? Fast? Trader pages?
-Rod
Yeah, the trader lists and ads, forum lists and messages, everything seems to load pretty fast. Photos in a message like the one below are pretty slow.
I'm on Comcast near Denver, with a 25 Mbps connection, FWIW.
