The 12L was extremely well reviewed and universally acclaimed. The 12l2 was a reiteration that was tweaked which didnt meet quite the same high praise. I believe the classic is an attempt to go back to the original formula.

So they should sound quite similar in theory.

I believe that both the 12l and l2 are great sounding speakers. I have not heard the classic.

  You will likely never see another pair in ebony listed. I had gotten my hands on several rare finishes like Yew, and early bids eye maple, but ebony was always impossible to get.
