I would keep it on the bench until you can get it serviced. When they 'splode they make a mess and tend to wipe out transformers.
Both channels having the same issue?

I have been exchanging messages with Jack and he has sent me some photos. When the virus restrictions are over I will travel to his place to do some measurements.It has been interesting to look at what John did. He fitted a quart into a pint pot and some parts and wiring are obscured. Fortunately, the caps are in plain view. There is also a power resistor on one of the hum pots that looks suspicious.
In any event, I plan to produce a schematic with the values that John used. From what I can see so far, the amp is similar to a JE Labs 300B deluxe. It has been interesting.

Ray, I can't tell you thank you enough for your emails so far. As a complete dunce at electronics I've learned quite a bit of the basics trying to make sense of some of the comments.
Looking forward to this state of emergency to someday be over and hoping to cue up an LP to listen too on the Hogan.
