I haven't looked at the offering but...
Go with the higher transconductance drivers. A WELL LOADED 6SN7 or even a WELL LOADED 5687 will provide enough gain for a two stage amp and the over all performance will make you forget the 12ax7 in most thought out designs.IMHO ;>)
I've built amps with 12ax7s and 6SL7s just to convince myself that they can sound as good and I always end up replacing the driver in two stage amps with they're faster cousins.
That's my experience...

If the input in this circuit influences the sound, won't one notice some sonic differences from these 2 tubes? I don't know the answer. Is it an SRPP?
