Yes, use chokes. Resistors will work in a Class A amp, unlike Class B. But this is not an area in which you want to cut corners. Let's face it, a single-ended triode is the most inefficient of all amps. So if you do not like the idea of two big, costly 20H chokes, build something else.
Seriously, a low-power Tripath amp and a motorcycle batteri take you pretty far.
The the output (and, if used, interstage) transformer is everything. I wouldn't use a transformer with less than 25H with the 300B. That should pretty much take care of any bass deficiency.
