In summer 1976, after years of abuse, Tina was able to get away from Ike. Ike argued that they were never officially married, but apparently, they had been together long enough, to have what was considered a "common law" marriage. The divorce was finalized in 1978.

Tina Turner came out with her version of "Better Be Good To Me" in 1984, 8 years after she escaped from Ike.

    ...this was Ala Moana Beach. Typical for summer, the waves were "flat to a foot." My relative squawks, that if she tried to do a handstand now, she'd collapse and cause a tsunami, LOL.
    
    Anyway, in the summer of 1991, after washing up, I went to Audio Directions, Ltd. There, the late Stewart Ono (AA's UncleStu52) did a demo for me. He used a VPI turntable, Quicksilver electronics, and some Vandersteen loudspeakers. And what was one of the songs he picked out? Tina Turner's "Better Be Good To Me."
    
    Then Stu shut it all down, and swapped out the Quicksilver power amp for a CJ amp. Man, the sound lost life, transparency, and contrast. When Tina Turner lost spunk, sass, and attitude, something was monumentally wrong.
    
    This is Oakland's Lake Merritt. In the late-1990s, I met other repeat customers at San Francisco's Ultimate Sound. One guy lived near Lake Merritt, near 580. He had bought Sonographe, Kimber, and NHT from Ultimate Sound. One fine Saturday, I went over to this guy's apartment. Yup, he played Tina Turner's "Better Be Good To Me."
