In Reply to: RE: "Broken CD" Jon (my records have been collecting dust since 1985 -- anyone in Michigan want some records?) posted by jeffmathers on June 09, 2009 at 08:16:59
I just want to be sure no one faints after I tell them a Sheffield direct-to-disc record, they said they were interested in, is free ... like in the last meeting I attended!

What, do they have to hang up their own coats and clean their own bathrooms at these events??? :)
The other fellow is probably a member of one of those "anti" clubs masquerading as an audio enthusiasts club where the members get together to partake in bouts of blatherbation.
Why knows, perhaps the very "club" where Dick gained his experience with blind tests ... e.g. bunch of naysayers get together and conduct blind tests with themselves as test subjects, the sort of activity that Dick now realizes (thanks to my educating him, not that he's likely to acknowledge it) to be a futile activity and wishes perhaps that they had instead spent the time doing something more fruitful like maybe having who can spit or piss the farthest contests!
LOL (mind you I could be wrong, perhaps that was at some other club) :)
Everything matters, don't forget to tweak your placebos!
you're ALWAYS wrong!
It's mainly a vinyl and tube lover's club, not my style as I haven't used vinyl and tubes since 1985, and my primary interest is collecting music,
and discovering new music, not discussing audio components.

... I'd have to kill you!
SMWTMS club from about 1985 to 1995 for DBTs,
and at home since 1995 for SBTs of borrowed components
versus my own.
When I discuss blind listening experiments, I weight my own experiences as under 1%, and other audiophiles experiences as over 99%.
My goal is to report the experiences of as many audiophiles as possible.
Your goal might be to make unproven boasts about how well you can hear.
Blind tests reveal actual listening skills .... information that is 100% more useful than never demonstrated, unproven claims of possessing Golden Ears coming from a typical high-end stereo owner. Is this over your head yet?

At home, that's kinda interesting. What did you compare, how many tests did you conduct? Please don't be shy, I'm all ears!
I'll look into the SMWTMS club tests (search for reports, etc,) and get back to you.
TIA

He misses the FREE RECORDS !
And what's wrong with making
a few bucks parking cars,
serving drinks, and
and hanging up coats?
I don't like that apron
they make me wear,
but the money is good?
