I have 2 active USB ports. When I want to use a seperate PSU to power them, can I simply connect the + and - from both together and connect them to a PSU or do I need 2 seperate PSU's?

Also, what's the verdict on powering my HDD from the same PSU? Is it better to use a seperate PSU for the HDD or is the sonic improvement small?
