I press x button on bottom rt of cplay screen. If I pause a file then press file open (3rd button from bottom left of cplay screen) to access another file in explorer it seems to be ok.
Problem usually occurs when within a file I press another track that is not in sequential order. So if I'm playing track 1 then decide I want to listen to track 5, I simply press 5(double click 5) or sometimes I pause track 1 then double click 5, it loads then I get the issue. But not always it is usually after I do this repeatedly (as any audiophile who wants to listen to his favorite cuts when excited about something new like value ram or a new version of cplay) say 7 or 8 times then I get the issue. Since I 1st reloaded juli@ drivers I have reloaded 3 more times and I still get issue but this time more frequently. However if I don't select non-sequential tracks within a file I can go 3 hours and no problems.
It lists Juli@controller and one unknown device (among identified others).
When I click on unknown device it shows:
Device type: sound, video, and game controllers
Manufacturer: EGOSYS
Location: Location 1
Device Status: The drivers for this device are not installed (code 28)
To reinstall the drivers click reinstall drivers
Under Device usage it says use this device.
So apparently this is the problem but when I go through the reinstall driver I click through all the steps I get to the julawdm.sys on juli@Windows driver for X86,X64 is needed type the path...then click ok I get there was a problem installing this hardware Media
An error occured during installation ...driver not intended for this platform
So anyway I ended up with 2 juli@ panels (i deleted 1st used 2nd) and right off I get the metallic sound.
So I will go through the unistall/reinstall process all over again and see what I get.
very humbling baring my dumb errors here.
I updated juli@ drivers again and made it through the process (using 32 subset files of 1.04 drivers. is this correct?). Anyway I reboot, get my juli@ panel I reset latency and external clock( slaved to my oppo 980 at 192 khz) and I'm ok. Cplay plays and sound is wonderful (full comments coming).
But just to be sure I go through xp --> control panel ---> device mgr and check sounds and it shows one unknown device. when I click on it says Sound, video, game controllers. Mfg: unknown. Location 1, The device is not configured correctly (code 1).
What does this mean?
Now shows no unidentified devices in control panel sound subset.
We'll se how long this is ok.
Cics thanks for making me think.
Control panel still ok showing no non id'd devices.Btw all other bios settings per your latest bios posting. I'm at .86 volts for core cpu and 3 3 3 5 timing for memory.

Theo,
I say this with a certain amount of confidence.
I am assuming you are loading 1.04 drivers.
I am assuming you are NOT using the supplied disk at all, simply pointing the hardware installer to DESKTOP where the drivers folder "is". (this is as it is in my case)
Did you follow segars advice on how to COMPLETELY uninstall JULI@ drivers by going into WINDOWS? If not, I will try to find the post for you.
There really is nowhere else this noise could emanate from.
If the machine is basically stable with cics's recommended settings I do not think there is anything to gain by trying others.
Let me know,

no I installed juli@ drivers the proper way and reloaded drivers from my flash drive. but 3 hours at 200 and no problems. hell I don't know Rick. It's really funny I am the only one with this problem altho Chipzahoy said he had a similar issue which went away with new 256 value ram

I was talking about how you installed JULI@ 1.04.
I figured that was where there could be a conflict.
sorry rick I misunderstood (and actually stated windows when I meant juli@ drivers--I get rattled when I get a computer problem and type gobbledegook). But I did get a clean install on juli 1.04 drivers (double checked in device mgr) but still got my issue at 170 host clock. I'm back at 175 host clock and no issues since this am and the sonics are almost as good as 170.

Is this not correct?
cics said something to the effect that he was not sure which MOBO was in use in your system.
Let me know,

I am using the gigabyte G31M-S2L.
...with me trying to trip it up. I think I'll slowly lower clock to where I get no issues see what I can achieve.tried 190 ...good for 2.5 hours no problem

...wrt to my metallic overlay issues and I'm still trying to trip it up via changing tracks within a file. Sonics are pretty cose to 170 host clock. Does anybody remember the host clock setting for cplay 2.0b 14? Think it was 175. Had very few issues at this level.

...very few issues--none in 12 consecutive hours of playback.
I continue to verify no issues in device mgr wrt juli@ drivers.
I have concluded that residual issues (metallic overlay) is due to a faulty sound card. I'm ordering another.

The computer was experiencing lots of metallic issues last night. No matter where I set cpu host clock control in bios, internal or external clock on juli@ panel I was getting problem every 20-30 minutes. So on a whim I set cplay at 44Khz and not only did it not get the gross problem (for at least 12 hours continous at 170 host clock control!) but it sounds substantially better. This has never happened before. 192 with -146 src always sounded better. So anyway I'm back to enjoying listening. At 192 with -146 src I was always getting a subtle hardness or ringing in the highs(I thought it was me anticipating the gross metallic problem) that I am not getting at 44. The subtle hardness has been there since version 15, never got it with 14 or before. I will admit that the hardness improved in v 16 and more so in 17 but its always there. So far 44 sounds good and no gross issues for 12 hours. This may or may not be related to the issue but is just an observation that may trigger something in somebody's head.
Going on 18 consecutive hours listening to cplay @ 44Khz --- no metallic problem.

Switching tracks should work perfectly (the same parts of cPlay is used when background loading). Set cMP to Yes in settings to block the file browse function.
Try increasing CPU host frequency to 200 - this will increase CPU frequency to 1200MHz and RAM speed to 200MHz. I suspect there could be an issue with your mobo or card. I'll also try to recreate this issue on my Juli@ setup.
...I was using file browser to get to my non cue files. Especially those hi rez files downloaded from HD Tracks. How do I get Wav/Flac files by only using cmp?
does not show your music files?
Have you not told it where your files are within SETTINGS (cMP button)/FOLDERS/ADD?
not sure I understand your question. yes can find my folders for flac and pure wav (non cue wav) and I can say add them to the cmp menu but only cue files show. what am I doing wrong? I always used theopen file explorer because I could click on cue,wav or flac files and get what I needed. But with cics saying not to use this feature in a cmp^2 system I won't do it. But I don't know ghow to get my non-cue files in cmp.
theob,
cMP will not load anything other than .cue into the cMP browser. This means that you will need to create a .cue for anything you want to play in cPlay using this method i.e. your .wav/.flac files. The alternative is to enable the windows file browser in ‘cPlay settings’ and use it to select your .wav/.flac files directly. I assume this is what you have been doing to date but the windows file browser entails greater system load which, I gather, cics is suggesting you try to avoid as it may be accounting for your difficulty. The best way to create a .cue for your hi rez .flac files is to copy an existing .cue and edit it (using notepad). It is a pain I know..
Bling,
I don't have that many, I'll give it a shot.

I create my cuefiles with foobar. What you need is the plugin. You load the files into foobar and with a right click choose "create cuefile" then go to the folder with the files and choose the ansi-format. Before all that you have to create an empty cuefile. I do it with text-file and just rename it to .cue rather then .txt. No editing needed. I did this with hunderts of cd's and it always worked fine. Walter
does this work with wav files? i think i tried this once with the plugin, and it created cue files with no track names, since there are no real tags in wav files -- or did i miss something?
