I don't.
I know that some love the Internet of Things (IoT), but I don't have a Ring door camera and I don't need to turn on the oven remotely. My NAS drives can't be accessed outside of our network. I've thought about it, but I've never needed to get anything on the NAS drives on vacations.

Follow Ups:
I have two NAS. One stays on the local network but I've thought about accessing the other one from "the outside". I'm not asking the NAS to turn ON our oven remotely ;-)

I have a buddy that does have an oven on the internet. He doesn't trust his wife to forget to turn it off.
Another friend is traveling with their RV 2 or 3 months at a time. They've got cameras around the whole house that tag him on his phone. Since their place is a few acres without close neighbors, I'd probably want that as well.

Ours can be controlled by phone. Useful on rare occasions.
Abe, got another snarky comment about my conversation with Rod? ;)

Yes. It's funny how both of you wandered off topic and hijacked the thread. But I'm not going to run off in a huff. It's just a freak'n audio forum after all.

I originally thought that responding to our leader's comments was ok!Apparently, no one else here cares.

I tried Synology's Quick Connect just for grins, but found no useful purpose and disabled it. Just one of many "so what?" features touted by techies providing no real value. While our Passport offers all manner of phone connected tricks, I rarely use any. Just don't care. :)
We do, however, have a collection of cameras both inside and out that I monitor while traveling especially in bad weather. It's also convenient to be able to remotely adjust both thermostats should I forget to change them while away. We also find usefulness using Apple AirTags in our cars and a large piece of shared luggage taken on long trips should any get astray.

Providing no real value to YOU but you aren't the center of the universe. Some of these "techie" features are very useful to some.

My wife and I use our "phone connected tricks" daily. Again, the question wasn't about your small universe and your car. It was about remote NAS connectivity.
Thanks

In my comments to Rod, I followed his lead with other examples. Having a bad day?

Not at all. I'm laughing my ass off because you have this need to always go off topic. It's kind of funny, unless it's a mental issue... in which case I apologize.
Enjoy.
