  Can somebody explain to me how bits transferred by wifi are different than bits transferred by wire?
  
  Usually the response is something to the effect of the noise the wifi receiver generates, but you also have that with any wired connection, plus the wires carry noise from device to device. I've seen where galvanic isolation is required, but isn't the air the perfect isolation?
  
  I'm just mystified by this.
  
  I use wifi myself as I have no wired internet in the house except between fiber modem and router.

    Well, perhaps it is just a hangoever from my disappointment with streaming hi-rez multichannel by WiFi in the past. Have not had any need to try it since. Alway reliable.
