Needs at least https://iancanada.ca/products/1c-fifopima-v1-5-master-mode-raspberry-pi-i2s-dsd-dop-re-clocker-with-ultra-low-phase-noise-xosthis is better: https://iancanada.ca/products/1d-fifopi-q7-flagship-i2s-dsd-dop-fifo-with-isolator-re-clocker-and-low-phase-noise-xos

I think I will experiment with these products but on a simpler basis. A PS plus a combo clocks + spdif outputs. Seems quite interssting for the $$.
Just replaced my hifiberry board with the flagship IanCanada fifopi7mk2
Noticable improvement. Digital audio like all audio is a game of diminishing returns. And the sweet spot is often in the lower priced stuff.
Thanks for your info.
But, of course, the fifopi7mk2 is flagship. Can you mix manufacturer's boards, or did it replace a fifopima?
I'm considering starting relatively modest with a purepi ii and a transportpi digi and see how I like that. I could go up from there.
Ian wrote me to say that the hdmipi pro has been improved to include a switch to the Gustard standard that my DAC requires. But I'll take it one step at a time.
I would have gone for something more modest as well I'm sure I would have been just as happy. But I get confused by all the offerings and capabilities.
Perhaps you should skip the purepi as well. If you have good 5v and 3.3v supplies. If you don't already have those supplies..might as well get a purepi.
