. . . on All Saints Day.
It's been out in the unconditioned garage for 15 years hooked up to an old Panny receiver, functioning as music streamer and wifi node. I think it cost $69 from Apple B-stock, IIRC.
Talk about tech that was way ahead of its time . . .
. . . in theory, practice and theory are the same; in practice, they are different . . .
Follow Ups:
I currently have two Airport Extremes: one as a router (with Time Machine USB SSD connected) and one as an extender. They are, by far, the best wifi solution I've had here. (And I've had all of the "big players.")
They're both the latest models, and I will rue the day when they finally give up the ghost.

on amazon.
If I had not already bought two wiims I would give one a try. But I am not spending more $$ on streaming devices...
And if your Apple Airport Express lasted 15 years in a sweltering hot and/or freezing cold garage I'd say you got your money's worth !! That sounds like an environment better suited for mil-spec electronics.

Electronic Components are more robust than I would have thought.... I've got a Raspberry Pi in my Garage System that varies in Temp from -5 Fahrenheit to 110 Degrees F...... I've had it there for about 8 years hooked up to an Old NAD receiver, and so far so good... I flip a switch and it starts playing my Favorite Radio Station whenever I'm putzing around the Garage.

Using one as streamer myself, but it keeps losing network or simply refuses to stream. Many years of great sound for free (son redid wifi and had it in box in basement, didn't know it could do streaming). Headed for a Bluesound I think.
