The HiFi Digi+ Pro arrived in one piece, I almost broke it with my fat fingers but it is ok.
Up and running on the Pi 3 via SPDIF output, sounds pretty good to me, this was a fun project.
Listening to Shpongle nice detail, nice air. I'll continue giving it a whirl this week for fun.
Follow Ups:
Be REAL curious to hear your thoughts on that.
Shockingly good sound coming out of the Raspberry Pi/HifiBerry Digi+ combo here. SOOOOO much better streaming QOBUZ than the stock SONOS Connect.
And, of course, even better streaming music from the hard drive attached to the MacMini that's currently running LMS.
Best $115 or so I've spent in audio in a long time if ever.
Quick question, where does the 'Shpongle' attach to the Raspberry Pi?
Oh, wait...
Sorry. :-(
Yes this is great fun,
If you like St Germain check out Shpongle.
I haven't compared, this is my first entry into Sound with the Pi since getting the first Pi in 2012.
I did just order a 5v IFI low noise power supply, supposed to make it sound better from the reviews on Amazon.
OK, we can try this...
Guessing those Gallo speakers like this kind of material better than the Harbeth's. ;-)
Headphones and an 8 Watt balanced headphone amp work as well!
My favorite album is "Tales of the Inexpressible", every album is completely different.
Bad news for you, the Digi+ Pro sounds a lot better than the modded Sonos. You save $500 oh man :(
He's REALLY enjoying his upgraded SONOS connect with a new $300 Mad Scientist Heretical Digital Cable.
'Tales of the Inexpressible' is fine. Even sound good on the Harbeth's, I betting. ;-)
Hey I heard that. I am going to get back on the RP tomorrow. I may need to email you and BH if you are around while trying this again.

But do watch 'Dynobot's' video. Slo-mo or stopping it every few seconds helps as it moves WAY faster than a 70 year old brain!Where one gets in trouble is the 'less than intuitive' requirement to have a couple windows open in the browser. one with the computer running LMS's ip address followed by :9000 and a second window with just the ip address of the Pi you are working with, which CAN CHANGE depending on the mood of the ip addressing scheme of your network, as I am led to understand.
There is an iPhone app (which I don't have nor do I recall its name) which will tell you ALL of the ip addressees of every device on the same network as the iPhone.
Scary to know such apps exists if one uses WiFi at Starebucks!

I am working on it tomorrow and unknown to him, BH is helping me. This is way above my paygrade but I will persevere. Sort of like the Joe Walsh song "with a little help from my friends."
I am liking the new Sonos and with my shot to hell hearing I doubt that I will hear much difference between a Digi+pro and the Connect, BUT, the wife is now very comfortable with the Sonos app on the iPad and that means a lot.

You are jealous of my Canary Blue Cable. I can tell.
"the ip address of the Pi you are working with, which CAN CHANGE depending on the mood of the ip addressing scheme of your network."I set up a permanent IP address for the RPi on my network. Very easy to do with my router. That way, accessing it via a terminal and ssh, or Putty, makes it easy to work with the code, or anything else.

The sound deamon has a lot to do with it, MPD, these developers can't get all the apps that Sonos has and make it easy to use. It is a nightmare to do that, so double28 and me are fine for streaming at least.
In terms of rips, yes the Pi and Digi+ Pro sounds better.
This is crazy!
I have no trouble running almost any App with LMS..... Heck, Ivan got Qobuz running in short order..Cut-Throat

Need Google Music, Deezer Elite, SoundCloud, and Bandcamp.
Bandcamp here...... Any Streaming service worthwhile out there, someone has figured out a way to stream it via LMS..... That is why I am a LMS Fan.
I had a Sonos for awhile, but not like their Web Interface at all.

I had Deezer Elite running..... Just too limited a Catalog...
Install the Pluggin Ickstream (Directions are on-line) .... And you can install almost anything. Link Below

Does that mean I don't get to spend $550 PLUS shipping and sales tax to get my SONOS Connect upgraded?
Are you SURE?
I can't compare streams, but out of HDD yes it does.Any recommendations on a protective case to put the Pi and the Digi + pro in?
I have to wait until next month, I'll figure it out, lol!
The Moode Audio system is pretty good. I am awaiting the next stable release of Volumio to see if it can support the Digi + Pro.
In terms of your other question before, you can build LMS into the same Pi you have, have the player and server on the same machine, it is crazy to do that but it can be done.

But not sure it's a perfect fit.
Seem to recall some discussion on the issue, perhaps he can answer.
Some of the HiFi Berry stuff, including cases, is on AMAZON (just ordered the Digi+ Pro using Amazon Prime) so maybe you can save time waiting for the St. Bernard to carry one over the Alps.
Looks good, supports an additional "HAT", includes heat sinks for the three primary chips and has screw openings for mounting. :)
But, you cannot Screw the Digi+ onto the Rpi, when using the Zebra Case. So, I like the HiFi Berry Case much Better.

Here is the case I like. Fits the Digi+ Pro plus Rpi attached properly with No Mods needed. Plus you can see everything....

Thanks for the help. I appreciate it.
I was on amazon looking at steel cases but the wifi doesn't work then.
