6bq5,
Thanks for your reply.
Probably we are talking about two different things: I believe you talk about cable resistance, yes, you are correct that wire resistance should be very low; Cable characteristic impedance is different from cable resistance. It is determined by cable capacitance and inductance.
In the old threads, Lew liked Goertz flat ribbon cables that have low
characteristic impedance 2-4 ohms.
Goertz flat ribbon cables are still commercially available.

See my post above in response to what Ralph said. What was most obvious when I did some trials with different cables back whenever, was that cables with high CI sounded very bad. This is with Atma-sphere amps driving Sound Lab ESLs, which is what I still listen to. In the interim I modified my speaker's crossover network such that impedance of the speakers is now much higher and more suitable to an OTL, which made a huge difference, still with the Goertz ribbon speaker cables, only a 4-foot length per side.
Thanks, Lew. I have used 4-foot bi-wire Goertz MI-2 copper speaker cable between MA-1 and Quad 989 in the past month. They sound very nice. As are Kimber TC12 4-foot bi-wire.
