Engineered by the Elite team, Aubort/Nicrenz w minimal mics. Same people who recorded the wonderful Ravel Vox Box.
Sat there in awe from beginning to end.
Follow Ups:
Try also the Varese and the Crumb recordings on Nonesuch vinyl. And so many others. Their sonics and pressings were outstanding. The domestic sourced recordings were the best but there were also very many excellent recordings sourced from abroad. And at times you could get them for about $2 new. Worth looking for in the used bins. There is an arguably better analog recording of the Weill on Reference Records, but the performance is no match IMO.
Unfortunately the original (non-discrete "matrix" quad) Ravel pressings on Vox were not very good.
Interesting that you would have the discrete quad (RCA system) disk.

. . . much of the Skrowaczewski Ravel set was reissued on Mobile Fidelity SACD's in discrete quad. Magnificent!

IIRC Reference Recordings put out one vinyl disk with some of the Ravel selections. Also, though I'm not absolutely sure, I think that Classic put out a high res. DAD version of the box along with the same of the VOX Gershwin (Siegel/Slatkin) box. The latter also a great recording. The VOX disks, by the way, evidence the great recording job but it's just like most of their work--noisy.

The tracks are now on my computer too. In some ways, I like the Classic Records remasterings even better than the MoFi SACD's, although they're 2-channel only, and the channels are reversed on some of the tracks. However, the SACD's don't quite contain the complete original contents of the 4 LP's, IIRC. Oh well!
Though I've put together a dead quiet vox box of the originals, which--along with the turntable--cost less than one SACD. : )
However, I know that some folks love LP colorations, and I respect that. And, BTW, quad worked SO well on LP's, didn't it! ;-)
Regarding cost, yeah, I hear you. I see that one of those SACD's is going for $99 now. (And that's used! - $275 new!).

Milhaud, 'La Creation Du Monde', RCA Victor LDS 2625 Soria Series is a beautiful production that is also well recorded and well played.
Too bad it's out of print.

If they mastered it like the CD I have, it won't be as impressive as it could be.

Always seem to be surprisingly good sounding.

I bought the LP when it came out. It always delivers.
About 10(?) years ago I bought a CD of the same recording. Fortunately, I kept the LP around. The bass drum on the CD is MIA. I was very surprised.
It just shows to go.

I ripped the LP to a WAV file, and there is plenty of bass! Glad I didn't buy the CD. I don't know of better performances of either piece.
Though Weisberg was a -wince- bassoonist.
