Young female Berklee student -- damn nice tenor playing. The subtone stuff she plays ain't easy, especially on the bottom of the horn.
Follow Ups:
She reminds me of her. A pretty unique voice I would say, especially for someone so young. Great post. Great player. Thanks, Tweaker
She is fabulous. I have been on her for four years....Osby recorded her on his label. She is into Sam Rivers BTW.

Great stuff!
The local jazz radio station has a weekly program called "Desert Island" where they interview a jazz musician and play selections from their desert island disks. She was the featured musician last week and I remember one of the tunes she picked -- a nice blues by Johnny Griffin who was I think an early influence.
Actually, I misremembered the tunes she picked though I think she did indeed mention Johnny Griffin as an early influence. Just checked the KCSM website:http://kcsm.org/jazzprograms/desertislandcastaways.php
I really liked her Cedar Walton selection. Hadn't heard the album before.

Her sound reminds me of Joe Henderson, but that's about the only comparison I can muster at the moment. Great band all the way around.

Pretty great!
Reminds me a lot of Joshua Redman, don't you think?

That's the first thing I thought of as well !! She's Joshua Redman in the sound; with a dash of Mark Turner in the melodic development sequences.

Nailed it!

oh, wait.
She has a beautiful tone and some subtle, easy, natural chops.
That tenor looks gigantic against her.

Though it sounds like the mic up near the head joint was live...
I would have shut it off.

Playing slowly and softly like that is VERY difficult to do properly.
