...to keep me interested, but only at home listening. I sat through some concerts and it was painful. I'd never go see opera for sure.

dear Eldragon: The spinach you get at Alain Duchasse is not your Mom's spinach.
Opera today has beautiful people who can act, the best music, the best scenery and lighting and stories that have endured. What's not to like?
You have been to too many scenes with middle-aged walruses. Audiences will no longer tolerate this.
Buy or stream Nebtrenko in Don Pasquale and tell us if it was fun.
She looked the best in her Traviata video IMHO. I'm sure the Don Pasquale you mention is good too, although I haven't seen it.
Also, while I agree with you about the capabilities of today's singers, scenery, lighting, etc., I feel that all too many times this level of quality is put at the service of anachronistic, Eurotrash-type productions which actually undermine what the composer and librettist were trying to achieve. (And I have to say that even the Traviata with La Trebs falls into this category - although that production is pretty mild as Eurotrash productions go.)
She still looked good. Remember she's a mom now. Hoping to see hert recent macBeth. Pasquale is such a farce that it's hard to trash it - I enjoyed the production immensely
Anyone remember that?
And did anyone remember that Keith Moon died in the same bed as had Ms. ("Mama") Cass Elliott, some time before?
