After outliving her life expectancy by 100 to 200 percent, Wallis Warfield Simpson, known as "Wally," died from old age.She was my son's first pet. We bought her when he was about 3 years old. Between the divorce, and my son's many deployments overseas, I was the sole custodian of Wally from 2005 until last year, when I figured out that a young nephew who loved nature documentaries might enjoy caring for her.
Wally greeted the dawn with song.
She was grateful for food and water.
She sang along, especially to Bach.
We should all be so bird-brained.
Sleep well, loyal friend.
There is a YouTube of her singing along to some solo-violin Bach.

I have and have had quite a few birds over the years, of various types. They are Underappreciated companions. She seems to have had a long and happy life. What more can one ask for?

For a finch, she had a very long life.
Decades ago, I bought a pair of lavender finches for a girlfriend. We waited and waited for them to start singing. Nothing.
Finally, after weeks, we were listening to the Kiri te Kanawa LP of Strauss' "Four Last Songs," and at the phrase "und die Seele unbewacht" in "Beim Schlafengehen" (2:50 in the YT linked to), the male started singing along!
Some birds not only have good taste in music--they are very picky, too!

Sorry you've lost such an endearing pet. Cultured, too!
Parakeets, canaries, finches ... enjoyed them all.
A finch that lived 24 years?!?!? You are fortunate indeed.
