If I owned a CD version-I do have a DVD-of The Sound of Jazz, it would have been on my list below. I have five LP versions: an original six eye stereo, a six eye mono, a stereo reissue, and a couple of spares. (The well-known recording was. of course, done several days prior to the broadcast with not completely the same personnel.)
This is one of the all time great jazz performances in spite of Lester Young's obvious health issues.
Get yourself a copy of this Pumpkin label issue if you can find one.

It's a transfer from either a laser disc (most likely) or VHS of the actual
broadcast and was released in the 80's, maybe early 90's. Really decent sound quality.
I have the LP and am not sure if it's available on CD, but probably is.

Bean, Ben, Pres, Mulligan, Roy, Vic Dickenson ... and Billie ... what a
band ... many thanks for posting this - made my day.

pretty much whenever you want!
First time I ever saw it I had to wait for it to be played at a theater
as part of the SF Jazz Festival in, maybe 1980. It was a treat then too!
Glad you enjoyed it. You probably know it's a clip from the "Sound of Jazz" CBS program from 1957. I think the entire broadcast is available on DVD.
