I agree with your comments but - and this is speaking as a real fan of the composer - the Dvorak Cello Concerto is NOT a good piece of music. I'd place it in the bottom third of that composer's output.
I have the Colin Davis performance of the Sibelius 7th (and the wonderful En Saga) and am surprised they didn't list that recording cycle, which would be a highly defensible choice.

Re the Dvorak Cello Concerto, many of us disagree. For years, it was my favorite concerto period - and I'm a pianist! You're not alone of course - I remember a column by the LA Times music critic many years ago referring to the Dvorak Cello Concerto as "that bore". I just don't understand how listeners can be immune from the deep, heartfelt emotion which the composer put in to the score. Brahms loved this concerto and it opened up his eyes to what was possible in using the cello as a solo instrument (and thus influenced his own Double Concerto).
Gosh, if you think the Cello Concerto is at the bottom third of Dvorak's output, what do you think of the Dvorak Piano Concerto? :-)
Very true - the Dvorak Piano Concerto is really a bottom feeder. I'm sorry I dissed one of your favorite pieces (the Cello Conc), but it's always struck me as loud and abrasive. The Violin Concerto is easily my favorite of those three concerti. A wonderful piece.
