Interesting! I had a similar experience with my MC1's at exactly the same time.I was using them as surrounds and they had, over the years, developed a strange drop in low frequency response ... rolling off around 150Hz rather than the previously measured 80Hz. The left one was a bit more pronounced. I sent Mick measurements and talked to him on the phone; I sent the speakers to him and he was determined to figure out the problem.
As it turned out, he was stumped by the change in bass, but he offered a couple solutions. He could find a used pair in the factory and sell them to me at a discount; or, he could rewire mine with FOIL, and drop the impedance from 4 to 3.3 ohms. I liked the idea of them being somewhat "LRS-ified" so I chose the experimental upgrade. It was about $550 plus shipping.
The result? Well they sounded better with the foil for sure. The bass was improved somewhat, but there were still remnants of the original problem that were not resolved. But they worked so I decided to listen for a while ... but after about a week the left one developed a "bark" at certain low frequencies. It definitely was not delamination, of course. But I would have to cross them over up in the 150Hz range to get rid of it.
I went with my Plan B which was always a better solution ... I moved the MC1's to the bedroom and brought down the LRS's that saw little use upstairs ... I hung the LRS's as surrounds and they worked great!
I talked to Mick at AXPONA and thanked him for the effort. I was willing to take the chance on the experiment and I appreciated his efforts.
p.s. He got his money's worth for sure. But it's like sending a 2008 car for repair and having them put the tires on a used 2020 car, repaint it the 2008 color and call it an upgrade.

Interesting video. Sounds like he got a nice repair/upgrade.

Did he mention the cost involved? I fell asleep a few times through it

I thought the My Own Devices guy looked like he could doze off at any moment himself. ;^)

$2K including $500 shipping, but with a discount for making the video. It would have been more without the video.Shipping has gone up.
