If this is at all useful: Exchanged E-mail with B. R. US sales. The speakers are made in Holland- a big plus...I tryto avoid China when I can.The two models that are being discounted have exactly the same specification- the choice is how you would place them in your room. One caveat is that may need a sub woofer- Own the Mag 1.7 and have gotten by with one with classical and jazz.Trying to fund out if my differential amps would work with these. But then again have a clue about how they actually sound. Like the idea of getting clarity at low volumes-my one deficit with my Mags living in a NYC apt. Would never give them up but have space Essence.

Do you mean gotten by "WITHOUT" one for classical and jazz (subwoofer that is)?
Yes : Would love the lower octaves of the organ but the 1.7 suffices. Do not want to tamper with the sense of space and live performance....It is a very balanced speaker but the one draw back is that to get the dynamics it works best with moderate volume. Essnce if it can creat a dramtic field might be helpful for after 10PM
