I'm not bi wiring. I know the Cary 5ooMBs are are not shutting down from overheating because I can reset them and they turn back on in thirty seconds or less.
According to the Cary manual that is the short circuit protection; quote "Short circuit protection activates if load impedance is about 1.6 ohms or less. Constant tripping of short circuit can
degrade output transistors. To reset protection, turn the amplifier off, wait 10 seconds, then turn the amplifier on.
Follow Ups:
In general, Maggies don't have drops in their impedance. Without seeing the actual schematic, I would expect the impedance to be ~4 ohms or greater (at the crossover frequencies) and it certainly would not drop anywhere near 1.6 ohms. Your amp should be able to drive them with ease. I would call Wendell at Magnepan and see what he thinks.

MG3.7 cant be bi wired...the 3.7 are just to good for the pass amps hehe ....just turn down the preamp....or get a speaker that well give you more output you wont...eze...goodluck
