Perhaps this will be encouraging: I took out my old Yahmah m2 amp(comtemorary with the Yahmaha preamp c2 and although I was told it would never have enough current to drive the Mag 1.7 it did! The sound is not mushy and it has some bite. It is not however a Bryston.

I can see that amp driving them well , I love the look of those M2's and M4's I almost bought an M4 until I ran across the SAE I have now.
