The list goes on and on and on. Do the Brits make some bad products, I guess so, but so do we, so do the Russians and Chinese, and back a bunch of years ago, so did the Japanese, in spades. How about the Korean Kia? The highly touted and expensive German Mercedes has a very poor reliability record, in spite of it's luxury and popularity. But, no one would suggest that Germany makes poor quality stuff.
IMHO, when it comes to hifi gear, some of the best designs have come from the UK.

I thought there was an issue about the reliability of those Rolls Royce engines (which were abused beyond reason) until the introduction of an oil treatment that we Yanks developed - Krex (use it in my cars - good stuff).
