External regime change has been tried in the region of the world without happy results.
Internal regime change were there is a strong faction to take over, (that being democratic or otherwise), is what is likely work, e.g. Syria.
NOT the 51st state, eh!?!
Follow Ups:
Sure, look at Iran's population 50 year ago when women could show head hair without being killed -vs- when they the current committed "death to Israel and America" terrorist supporting Zealots took over.
In the minority in power view there, it was good they took over, still good and as long as they remain in charge, it will be good with either them or their enemies gone.
Regime change is a goal
this time Iran doesn't actually have them like was clearly demonstrated with Saddam.
In that case, the fool didn't document disposal and faced the consequences.
Yes and it is the regime that has been funding and supplying many other terrorists, building thousands of missiles and working on the A bomb for the expressed purpose of wiping out all western influence and the dred Israelis .
It is the regime that converted it into a 3rd world country instead of a modern country not quite 50 years ago.
Tom, for a remarkable guy as you, you are remarkably opinionated and unfazed by millions of dead people killed in pursuit of US primacy. I have nothing against US primacy but I am not trying to be a " good German " like you. We kill for profit margins and that's that
Hi
Hey, i call BS, I remember the Cuban missile crisis clearly AND what started it, our country putting missiles within visible unaided eyesight in Turkey and the Russians looking across the water saying "we must do something to respond. Cuba is as close as they could get in response.
Our one sided lapdog media, like now too, pitched this as "naked Russian aggression", in reality is was actually response in kind to us (our government) putting missiles so close (closer than Cuba) to them.
In The cold war supportive media then was mostly about lies of omission not so much outright lies like now (like Joey is fine in the head, the K is a mental giant or The orange devil is Hitler and will end civilization, democracy, peace on earth etc etc).
Thankfully growing up with a shortwave revealed how the one sided media vi steers opinions of those who believe them hook line a sinker.
I don't see any equivalence however, Cuba never had death to America, death to Israel cult as a primary platform and never did anything remotely like Iran has done funding and supplying so many different terrorist groups.
Perhaps your right too, we should not have helped Europe, Germany was the most scientifically and socially advanced country in the world, their guy ended the Russian royal family / rule and they worked out "the final solution" for those in Germany who they thought were problems.
But I would bet the same 20/20 hindsight complaints about not doing anything would have actually been louder than now
Which was the greater evil then?
No one Can change the reality of the past and one doesn't have to like it but the only actual possibility going forward is impacting the future.
Given the past, those so strongly dedicated to the death of any group / country / race /religion AND ACT ON THAT killing innocents, don't deserve to be part of modern western civilization.
YMMV just an opinion.
