Follow Ups:
Some people here like to bash Texas. I don't know why. Maybe jealousy.
For you folks in Californistan, here are the neighborhood Chevron prices:

While not as high as Californistan, they're still higher than just a few years ago.

While in Utah? We saw 85 Octane. Once I figured that out? Bought 'mid grade' even for a few pennies more....
Most states stick with 87 as a minimum.....
And lots of Ethanol added signage....
Too much is never enough
Could be TEXANS? Ever think of that? And those silly, giant belt buckles.....

Future wars MAY be fought in part over WATER.
That pool in Kazakhstan is looking better and better.

Near the intersection of 580 and 680. Not quite as bad as in your example, but I paid $6.29 for premium - and that was with cash.

this is Los Angeles yesterday that was sent to me.
And you know who runs California and also who just cancelled leases in Alaska for drilling oil.....
Give me nightmares......
Sure that's not in Yen or Yuan or Swiss Francs?

Things will only get worse.

I just saw on "the news" this morning that the national average for 'regular' is $3.88.
What's the problem in Californistan?

Where to start?

They have been enjoying prices like that for decades.
Now is the time to send a letter to your European friend: "I feel your pain!" :)
Seriously... this shit should end. Here we are still more than $2 cheaper, but enough is enough.

Temecula must be 'special' in some way.
I went out today and prices much lower than I saw yesterday just 20 miles up the 15.
Years ago, Costco must have had a real deal for a LOT of gas they purchased at a good price.
For a couple months they were FAR less expensive than anywhere else......and had lines 30 and 40 cars long. Took quite a while to get your fill. Eventually I guess the deal expired and the gas distributor or whatever....never quite made that mistake again. Maybe on a smaller scale, given your price of over 1$ lower. That's not a trivial sum.....
Congrats on a good find....

Beats living in Riverside.
Guessing gas is cheaper there.

And maybe even San Bernardino!
Me? I'd love to move to the garden city of MECCA.....An unincorporated 'town'......
Several months of Record High Temps exceeding 120 f with rainfall around the 3" annual level.
Located near the Salton Sea......

then again CA has a lot of rich folks. They probably do not feel any pain. I dunno how *regular folks* get by tho.

California is MOSTLY regular people.
Those poor bastards where this station (and I saw the same at 3 others) are what A buddy of mine once called '50,000$ a year millionaires'.....Call it 100 grand, today, but the same deal.
Living from paycheck to paycheck......
Too much is never enough
I know people who make say, $300K (and not in CA), but still do that.
It is all in your head.

No, Vic it is not 'all in your head'.
It is a simple math problem. Make 100. Spend 101. You are now in debt, even IF making a good sum....
The secret to building wealth may be a simple as not spending all you make?

I think you and Victor agree, but maybe you mis-interpreted his comment. It's all in your "mindset" might be what he's saying. Just a thought.

I see what you mean.....and stand corrected.
I think we are about 90% on the same page here.......
As a whole? Not much wealth accumulation in the US at this time, at least among those in the lower 80% of all incomes.....per tax return stat
Too much is never enough
Bet they are not wondering where their next meal is coming from nor sleeping rough.

that had gas prices about $1 or more above anywhere else, plus a couple bucks more than self serve if you wanted them to pump it (and many of their customers expected service).
Ok, not far from Larry Ellison's place on Mt. Home Rd., so a few rich folks in the area.
Favorite biking area because the roads were smooth and shoulders wide.
