Truth to be told it was the last thing on my mind to adopt a Pit-bullish dog but somebody kicked out a few weeks old puppy on the streets and it was roaming neighborhood until my poor Mama gave it some food. When I came later that day to visit her that little thing wouldn't leave my side and fell asleep between my legs when I was sitting at computer desk checking her bills. Since that first night I pretended to look for the owners or that I think of giving it away to the shelter but I knew the bond was already formed and it's too late. It immensely complicates my life but in many dimensions it's a godsend. I wished it was a small, trouble free doggy but heavens decided otherwise.

"Truth to be told it was the last thing on my mind to adopt a Pit-bullish dog . . . I wished it was a small, trouble free doggy but heavens decided otherwise."After Roscoe died what I really wanted was a Dachshund or a Chihuahua or a Beagle or along those lines. This was still Covid days and the shelters were having to beat the hordes of adopters back with bats and pitch forks (Except for Pits, which EVERY ONE was loaded with). I found this shelter 250 miles away down around Cincinnati that had a picture of this Shepherd/Beagle mix who had a big grin on his face and I knew he was the one.
But I was the only one that saw his charm (at the time); however, the shelter also had a litter of nine 8 week old puppies that were listed as "Boxer mixes" (which was technically true) and in all fairness, under that heading, Staffordshire Terrier was mentioned, so it is on me for not doing all the homework.
Anyway, we started out planning to get ONE puppy . . . and then we decided we could work Jack The Shepherd/Beagle Mix in, and when we got there, we decided that the brother puppy should have a sister.
Later on the joke became that we drove 500 miles round trip to get a couple of Pits and all we would have had to do was to drive five.
"Sorry losers and haters, but my I.Q. is one of the highest-and you all know it! Please don't feel so stupid or insecure, it is not your fault"

Old black guy in the park told me "take a good care of him and he will take care of you" The place I live in is littered with Pits and their owners, good ole Detroit so it's slightly less of a liability having that dog here. The only thing is that I dont have kids so I'm not used to a creature requiring attention all the time like a toddler. All the best.
