well I think that's an overreaction on your part from having the negatives highlighted by the media and opposition from those trying to keep 'the cookies' for themselves while trying to distract the public from their hands in the cookie jar ... maybe not, but something to consider anyway
hell, we've both 'tried' yet the only regrets I have looking in the mirror are few and center mainly on my eyelids that seem to have gone missing as I age ... in other words, you might benefit from taking a step back by not internalizing criticism and allowing YOU to give yourself a break, phuk it you've earned a few anyway!

...in a few hours I have to "plant" my uncle back into this Earth. He was my second father, never married, having no kids of his own. Being the eldest surviving (and only) son of this blood-line, I have everything to deal with. I'm the one that had to "pull the plug" last Tuesday (as per his wishes).I
He never even graduated high school, went to Vietnam instead--voluntarily. Returned home and worked in steel mills and a pipe mill for decades. He somehow amassed an estate of over $3M (that's not even counting physical assets/property). He gave generously to certain organizations, and that's where the bulk of this money will go.
I don't want or need anything, but I disagree with gov't hand-outs. I don't do charity work for some sort of cash-bonus or other financial gain--it is to legitimately help those in need. I'm not (and won't) run for a political office.
I get "trashed" by a few around here, for my animals and cars, but you're right--F**K them. After today, tomorrow is a new day--and promised to no one.

I'm sorry for your loss Dave, this will be a tough day, make the best of itmay you keep his memory in heart and light
just the other night I was thinking that I'm at that point in life where I've buried more of those I care about than are still with us ...
that can make a person feel kind of lonely but I'm past the stage in life where I experience the 'mortal dreads' of wondering when I'll join them
it's cause to reflect on, honor, and appreciate those times spent together
alright, it got a little 'dusty' in here
