  Thanks for posting. I mostly know him as having the fortune (or misfortune) of following Jack DeJohnette in Miles Davis's groups in the 70's and 80s. Those are giant shoes to fill, but my impression is that the rhythm and time were actually more solid with Foster on the throne. He also did great sessions work with Sonny Rollins and McCoy Tyner among many others. He lived a full, accomplished life.

  Sorry to hear that. I read his interview with Jeremy Pelt. I believe he was self taught.
