Lotta great music and sounds over a lot of great decades.
"Once this was all Black Plasma and Imagination"-Michael McClure
Follow Ups:
He was also a good photographer. I have a book of his photographs of fellow musicians, which was released a few years ago. A bit of trivia from the book: turns out he really liked to smoke ganja, man.

Addicted to content-free jazz music.
Lucky to see him back in 2012 at one of our local jazz clubs. He was playing with Javon Jackson. Super nice person. I was hoping to catch him a couple of years later with Jackson at the same club, but the show was canceled, McCann's health issues as I recall. Nevertheless, a great night of soul and jazz.
he came in for a bone scan and was impressed that I didn't think he was Eddie Harris. After the injection for the scan, he returned to be scanned and brought me a piece of art he had painted and signed it to me. he was a nice guy and I enjoyed his playing.
Compared To What? was a great war protest song from the 60s in JAZZ. pretty cool I say.

I never heard this before, but I found it on YouTube. It sounds a bit perfunctory "compared" to the famous version, but . . .
And Stellar.
Heard LM do it in the early 80's and EH do it in the late 80's with
their respective bands. Both wonderful.
But THIS is the version:

I caught them both in '93 at the Blue Note. They both graciously signed that disc cover.
A great one! R.I.P.
