Paul yet another loudspeaker? You need to get in the business so you do not seem crazy;) Built many PHY loudspeakers. They are not picky about amps I used many different types inc OTL but SET did jell the best. If your going PHY GO km30 sag. Use massive OB or smaller with helper woofer. The cabinets that are open but tower style to me have way to much character caused by vibrating cabinets. Drivers are best in OB making OB small etc is compromising sound quality for appearance.

John,
Sorry it took me awhile to get to your post. As I think you know, for me, a big part of the hobby has been curiosity & experimentation. I learned (or decided) early on that about the only way to *really* know gear was to get it in your room with your current system (one variable) for an extended period. So, yes, I've owned some stuff over the years.
[And of course I did makes mistakes, have some regrets, kind of wish I had thrown around quite so much money, etc. One thing I wish I'd kept were the field-coils I had.]
I'm not sure how being in the biz makes one less crazy, but FYI I have been, of sorts, and even a manufacturer since I've DIYed. ;)
We talked about a PHY OB some years ago. And I am sure I would have bought one from you - or something - if you'd have given me a demo but you said no. :) I was in a buying mood at the time. I have seen your PHY OBs and they look very well-built.
As it is I am actually not doing the PHY on an OB but have gone with a commercial product utilizing that driver (along with a ribbon tweeter).
Hard to check out gear in WI. Seems buy try is about it. KCS used to offer demos. But I spent ever weekend also many week nights demoing gear. Most where locals never really in the market. Couldn't do the 7 day 12-16 hours thing takes the fun out of life. My sales increased after we stopped demos since I had more time to design. I have a FC driver Im working with. Transducers has very hi build quality. Bass is very strong detailed but cabs giant. Till later take care and happy listening.
Yes, it's probably best you said no, as I was planning on staying two weeks.
Sorry,I say no to all. Wasn't singling you out. Demo times is never paid time ;) I make little profits on audiophile loudspeakers the more time or $$ I spend the more I have to charge for product. I also have a special needs child to care for thus I do not have time or $ to push to get much business for KCS. We will stop building custom late this year. Name will change going to offer models in site with shopping cart ready to ship. Still will focus on extreme builds with exotic transducers. No drek;)
I understand. Of course. Just making a little joke. And pointing out, again, that I was not the usual case & a demo would probably have been followed by a sale. :)
