No multichannel options for their Pentatone catalog.

  Lossy, base lossless and two flavors of high resolution PCM - just not fringe options like DXD nor MC.
  
  I can think of only two inmates who are really into MC and Chris from Lafayette spins SACDs from his Sony player. The few I have are played on the HT system using an Oppo.

    I have a MCh system which plays or streams multichannel DSF or hi-res PCM files through my Oppo 103 player, which also plays (and rips) SACDs.

    . . . are discs or downloads - over a thousand each easily. The nice thing about the downloads is that they're often available in higher rez, if one wants to pursue that route.
    
    What I DO need my Sony player for right now is Dolby Atmos, since I still haven't set up Apple Music for Dolby Atmos streaming on my system.
    
    BTW, I think there are a couple of other inmates over on the Classical forum who listen in MCh, but, old age being what it is, I can't remember who they are.

    Yes, there are few "inmates who are really into MC." However, there are many on other forums and many who are not on any forums. My group of dinner/audio pals consists of 5 guys, all of whom are into MC but, at most, 2 or 3 are on any audio forum. Most of those are, like me, playing them from ripped or downloaded files with collections that run into the thousands.
    
    I think that, for good or ill, the rise of Atmos will reveal more clearly the appetite for multichannel music.

      MC remains a niche market within a niche market.
      
      My challenge with MC lies with unavoidable economic compromises. I simply cannot afford that many Sound Lab stats nor the amplification to drive them! Nor really have the space to support such. HP's "Super Maggie" MC system sounded pretty darn good but was never as transparent as the Room #3 system.
      
      Things would be different with Ray Kimber's budget and six pair of 922s. ;)
      
      I enjoy classical, but other genres as well. And not into synthesized MC effects found elsewhere. Been there, done that.

      Perhaps so. Employing even more speakers (13?) via height channels is not what most folks seek to do. My current AV processor supports such, but I'm happy with a 4.1 approach in the HT. During the Covid era, the local symphony provided live feeds of performances to ticket holders. That easily bested the realism afforded by even my Telarc content.

        I began my involvement in this thread because Pentatone was founded as a multichannel label and I find it sad that Presto does not offer the downloads.

        Yup, Atmos came to commercial theaters in 2013 but.............
        "Dolby Atmos for Music, an audio-only iteration of the format was adopted by streaming music services Tidal (uses E-AC3) and Amazon Music in December 2019." Still too early to tell when/if it will lose the training wheels.
