Hi all,
I recently picked up a secondhand Alo Audio Pan Am headphone amo, and would like to add a linear power supply (to replace the 12V wall-wart), but want to be sure I get one with the right specs. Does anyone have the Gateway LPS sold by Alo or know what specs I would need, other than 12V DC?
Thanks in advance!
Chris

Hi boodles,
I came across this inexpensive regulated linear power supply, and find it performs excellent for a critical listening application when an audiophile-quality AC power cord, and audiophile-quality DC umbilical are involved. It's well-regulated, and provides enough current capacity for most source components. Strong points are an expansive soundstage presentation with vivid image outlines, and a lowered noise floor. It's inexpensive enough to spring for a power cord and DC umbilical to optimize its big bang for the buck performance level, IME.

Hi Duster,
Thanks for the link; that's a great deal! Do you have a recommendation for a DC umbilical? I've not seen any after-market DC cords for audio use anywhere.
Thanks again,
Chris

VH Audio V-Quad Cu21 (18 AWG aggregate/effective gauge) with Oyaide DC-2.1(G) DC plugs is the best sounding DC umbilical, to my ear. A must-have for the Studer900 for optimum performance, in my experience.

Awesome; thank you!!!
You have the option to build a DIY DC umbilical with the cable and connectors, or you can order a finished product from VH Audio.
