I have a bass alignment filter for B&W matrix speakers. It is my own design. How do I protect it from stealing in US?
already answered your question. Do they even make the Matrix line today?
I can share the design with my friends and move on to the next design. That is fine.
If you are to market this device then you have to figure how much revenue you'd loose by someone stealing your idea and then decide from there. You will only be granted a patent if the product application is novel or the implementation is novel, or both. Another commercial ploy is a trade secret and just don't tell anyone about it unless you want to make it a marketing feature, in which case that is more tricky. Even the most subjective of audiophiles likes to know about the technology they buy. If you are not going to commercialize it you could still apply for a patent anyway for vanity. Note that once have a patent then anyone can study the details.
Looks like give it to friends or throw into the trash is more convenient.
