Anyone still using a Shunyata Hydra (original) or V-Ray in 2024? If so, how do these Conditioner(s) hold up?
Follow Ups:
I don't have one now, but listened to it somewhat recently. It's dated, to be sure, but was never offensive. In the systems I have used it with, it added a warmth that was pleasant, but ultimately a coloration. Not the greatest in resolution either, but I prefer it to the Audioquest conditioners, for example. However, at least with non-amplifying equipment, it is not in the same league as any of the top quality regenerators.
In short, not bad for a budget office system, but I wouldn't use it for a real high end system.
Thank You- Rzado.
I have an original Hydra in my all-digital home-office system, and a purchased-used Hydra 8 v.2 "fuels" the living-room audio-video-TT system. My streamer-server-sourced "reference" bedroom audio system is fed by a Shunyata Delta D6.
The original Hydra performs well, but is outclassed by both the Hydra 8 v.2 and, significantly so, the Delta D6.

Thank You- Jim.
I have had it for years. When I first got it, I did some listening with and without. I thought I could hear subtle improvements with. Now days, I just have everything but the amp plugged into the Hydra.
Thank You- srdavis2000.
Bought the original Hydra with the wooden faceplate when it first came out. Sold it after a couple of years and bought the newer Hydra with the aluminum faceplate. It has worked perfectly.

Did you notice an upgrade in sound quality by moving up to the Alum faceplate (newer edition)?
The wooden faceplate was a piece of art...absolutely beautiful. I thought the newer model sounded significantly better---cleaner---more detailed without sounding bright.
Thank You - for the comparison.
