When I listened to it briefly just now with my 1" laptop speakers, it sounded like it was double-tracked. I stumbled across a guy who does a darned good job of playing both parts at once by using his bare fingers:

I saw the Dan on the '93 tour, their first after a long hiatus. The stunt guitarist was the excellent Drew Zingg. He was his own man in creating fresh solos, not imitating the records. With one exception, TWM which he played note for note.
